For nearly 70 years, our tradition has been to give back to our local community by supporting the many local organizations that have a positive impact on our neighbors and promote a strong community spirit. In addition to building new communities, we feel it's important to serve the homebuilding industry that we love.
That's why we take an active role in leadership in industry associations that work to ensure affordable, quality new homes for families, supply good-paying jobs, and provide work-training opportunities for local students wanting a career in the industry. In addition, scholarships are granted in schools across the state to undergraduate and graduate students interested in a building or construction-related career.
We find it so rewarding to be a part of these valuable organizations. Karen McCaffrey is on the board of directors for the California Building Industry Association (CBIA) Foundation and Bob McCaffrey previously served as the chairman of the local Building Industry Association (BIA) and on the CBIA board. Their son, Brent McCaffrey is the current chairman of the board for the BIA of Fresno/Madera Counties and their son-in-law, Ash Knowlton serves on the board of directors for the CBIA.
We're proud that Bob and Karen McCaffrey were inducted into the California Homebuilding Foundation (CHF) Hall of Fame, the top home building industry award that recognizes industry leaders and offers their career examples as an inspiration to others. The Hall of Fame induction is particularly significant to the McCaffrey family because it not only recognizes their success in homebuilding, but also their greater commitment to the communities they serve.
The industry associations we're part of are made up of “doers" who realize the significant and vital role we play in the economic strength of our local region. Through serving on these boards, we work hard to champion housing as the foundation of vibrant and sustainable communities.
We're inspired by the wonderful people who make up the community where we live. After all, there is nothing more rewarding than presenting the keys of a new home to a family.
